Booker Washington Institute (BWI) is where the August 2004 teacher training took place. BWI provided room for the Friends of Liberia team, the core teacher trainer group, and the teacher who came to participate.
Both the Liberian trainers and the teachers who participated rarely get paid for their efforts. There has been minimal government in the last 15 years and education got little funding. The teachers in this program are motivated their belief in the value of education and obviously not by the pay.
The LEAP trainers participated in building an ecostove. This stove will help to retain and conserve heat, helping to lesson the amount of fuel needed to cook.
The stove was donated to BWI
