Liberians Are Invited to Help Their Home Counties Improve Early Childhood Education

Liberian Educators for Action and Peace (LEAP) is a non-governmental organization that grew out of Friends of Liberia's annual teacher-training workshops for K-3 educators and principals. A corps of dedicated Liberian early childhood educators formed their own non-profit organization to spread the concepts of age-appropriate, hands on and interactive learning to every county in Liberia. LEAP is one of the foremost examples of Liberians helping Liberians to emerge from the instability of the post-war years.

LEAP teacher trainers have held dozens of two-day workshops in Bassa, Montserrado, Margibi, Bong and Nimba counties and in schools throughout central Liberia since 2002. The organization's goal is to
spread LEAP teacher training concepts throughout Liberia, county by county. In keeping with their do-it-yourself principles, LEAP is seeking sponsorships from county groups to bring workshops to new teachers and schools.
